indysci.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting non-traditional basic and applied scientific research. Our focus is to fund and conduct socially beneficial scientific projects that challenge components of the traditional "government-subsidy to academia to industry" paradigm of science policy.
Our first project is Project Marilyn, which seeks to develop an anticancer pharmaceutical compound by crowdfunding. If this project proves that there are viable alternatives to traditional routes of scientific support, we will be seeking further projects to support with our fundraising efforts.
